Many companies within this Holiday season rely on just emotional appealing ads in order to connect with their audience. With that, Santa Claus seems to be everywhere. From riding in a shiny new Mercedes Benz to helping out a husband pick out a beautiful diamond necklace from Kay Jewelers, he seems to become the number one spokesperson of many companies. However what can business do to break out out of the clutter?

Motorloa seems to have found that answer. Beginning in Nov. 30, Motorolla created new campaign for their newest phone, the Droid Razr Maxx HD. The campaign, called Santa to the Maxx within the company, was developed to have parents and kids alike to ditch the whole writing Mr. Claus a letter. Instead, they encouraged to send text messages and voicemails on his new gadget as it will more effectively help him communicate better.

To ensure that families would use this new system, the marketing team created a special incentive. Motorola will choose 10 children children to talk to Santa and ask questions for 30 to 45 minutes each during a live chat on Thursday from 12 to 5pm EST. Consumers can also text Santa to ask questions which is a way for people who did not participate in the contest to get involved.

The idea through this campaign is very catchy. Instead of using Santa as a advertising tool, Motorola is using him as a catalyst to reach out into the hearts of their consumers. By creating something meaningful within the timeframe and taking advantage of the joyous emotions within the season, Motorola should be capitalize within the hearts of the consumers.
